Our goal is to become fully devoted followers of Christ; to help each other live healthier lives with more energy, more joy, more hope, more purpose—and more impact. By raising the bar – for each other and ourselves – and by making a lifestyle shift, we can change the direction and the substance of our lives. So let’s commit to these 5 efforts and see what God does in us and through us this year.
For the eyes of the Lord search back and forth across the whole earth, looking for people who hearts are fully devoted to him, so he can show his great power in helping them. —2 Chronicles 16:9

My Commitment: Read through the Bible this year |

I will take the next step closer to Jesus! How? By having daily conversations with Him, by having a regular alone time to read His teachings, and by joining a group of those committed to doing the same. “And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. Let your roots grow down into him and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.” —Colossians 2:6-7

My Commitment: Help someone by serving |

I will help someone else discover God’s love by serving them. How? By volunteering to serve at least once a month in one of the church’s ministries, by going on one urban outreach to minister to the poor this next year and by becoming the kind of person who does things for those who cannot repay me. “God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.” —I Peter 4:10

My Commitment: Invite a friend to church |

I will share the Good News of God’s love with someone who is not connected with God’s loving family at least once in the next three months. How? I will be sensitive to the people God has placed in my life, and reach out to them with an invitation to a church event—a dessert theatre, a small group, a social event or a Sunday service. I will invest my life to find common ground with people so that our friendships will lead them to meet the very Best Friend there is—Jesus. “Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone.” —Colossians 4:5-6

Have a Friend, Be a Friend
| |
My Commitment: Join a group or ministry |

I will cultivate deeper friendships within the community of Christ like never before. How? I will connect with other believers by participating in a small group, class or ministry that meets regularly. I will open my life to the encouragement of other believers, and I will allow my life to be used to bring out God’s best in them. “You are a member of God’s very own family...and you belong in God’s household with every other Christian.” —Ephesians 2:19

My Commitment: Do the next right thing |

I will do the next right thing—I will surrender my life completely for God’s purposes. How? I will commit to regular worship, where I freely express my love to God in song. I will enthusiastically serve others in my church family. I will not keep the Good News to myself. I will be living proof of a loving God to the people in my life—my mate, children, co-workers, friends and neighbors. I will offer my everyday, ordinary life to God. “Take your everyday, ordinary life---your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life— and place it before God as an offering.” —Romans 12:1
