There is a lot that happens during the school day with our students. Listed below are other ways we enrich our curriculum in addition to auxiliary classes:
Chapel
Chapel is held every Friday that school is in session in the sanctuary. Kindergarten through third grade chapel services are at 9:00 a.m. Grades four through six attend services at 9:50 a.m. Parents and guests are invited to attend our chapel services.
Spiritual Emphasis Week
Spiritual Emphasis Week focuses on a particular topic and provides an opportunity for students to attend chapel services each day for a week. The topic emphasizes the yearly chapel theme, and offers a time of spiritual growth for our students. Students participate in worshipping Christ through song, prayer, and a study of His Word.
Annual Musical Performances
Throughout the year our students have the opportunity to show off their talents in singing, dancing and acting in various musicals. The fifth and sixth grade His Kids students perform in the Fall Musical. During the month of December our kindergarten and first grade students celebrate the birth of Christ as they perform in their Christmas musicals. In the month of February our second grade students show off their patriotic spirit as they perform in their annual patriotic musical. Third and fourth grade His Kids students perform in the Spring Musical. Finally our fourth, fifth and sixth grade students have one final opportunity to show off their talents in our annual Talent Show.
Academic Meet
Each year our first through sixth grade students are given the opportunity to participate in the ACSI Academic Meet. This provides our students the chance to demonstrate their abilities in math, spelling, memorization, dramatic presentations and speech.
Math Olympics
As part of our ministry, we offer our students an opportunity to glorify God in the use of their mathematical abilities beyond the classroom situation. In early March, the TAG math students participate in the Math Olympics, which is a math competition between other Christian schools around the bay. Students participate in computation and reasoning, with four eleven-minute tests. There is only one first place winner, second place winner, etc. like our athletic Olympics.
Sixth Grade Outdoor Ed Trip
During the spring our sixth grade students are able to experience God’s creation up close and personal as they travel to Mission Springs for Outdoor Education. This week long Christian camp provides a hands-on approach to the miracles of God’s handiwork. For further information on this camp visit www.missionsprings.com .
