Valley Christian Schools Education Goals

The goals of Valley Christian Schools are founded upon the basic premise that Christian education trains the whole person, namely the mind, the body, and the spirit. The educational experience at Valley Christian Schools is designed to meet the following goals:

To Effect an Internalization of Christian Principles as a Way of Life

  1. Through establishing an awareness of one’s alienation from God, the Creator and Sustainer of the universe.
  2. Through the acceptance that man is created in the image of God and may establish an eternal life relationship with God through a personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior.
  3. Through the discovery of the authoritative message of Scriptures for their lives, and learning to live in accordance with this authority.
  4. Through determining the basic concepts of a Spirit-led life and applying these concepts to Christian principles that are then internalized and acted upon.

To Maintain Academic Excellence and Intellectual Growth

  1. Through establishing standards that encourage the student to develop and achieve his or her highest potential.
  2. Through developing the student’s desire to achieve predetermined educational goals, realizing the positive results from creative and productive application of self-motivated efforts.
  3. Through teaching students to work independently, but cooperatively, and to think for themselves in order to act in accordance with their personal convictions in the face of group and peer pressure.
  4. Through teaching the necessity of validating truth through the Word of God.
  5. Through consistent monitoring and revision (when necessary) of the school’s curriculum to insure that the high standards of Valley Christian Schools are maintained and remain relevant.
  6. Through encouraging faculty members to maintain a program of spiritual and professional growth.

To Live a Disciplined Life

  1. Through dedication of personal time for Spirit-led Bible study, prayer and meditation.
  2. Through teaching students that every decision an individual makes, whether active or passive, is consequential and can be evaluated in terms of objective standards (right and wrong) grounded in a Bible-based value system.
  3. Through an understanding that hardship and “…suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.” (Romans 5:3-4)

To Be Good Citizens

  1. Through the understanding that all authority is ordained by God.
  2. By providing history courses comparing the Christian influence on early governmental development with the humanistic influence of today.
  3. Through establishing a recognizable need for spiritually led citizens and leaders in our nation.
  4. Through submission to the legal authorities, being cooperative, peaceable, considerate, humble and ready to do whatever is good as defined by God’s Word.

To Build Sound Social Relationships

  1. Through the personal recognition that each student is a unique individual before God.
  2. Through the development of a healthy self-image and the understanding of one’s responsibility to God to “love our neighbor as our self.”
  3. By training students to have respect for their parents, friends, country and adult authority. Dependency on peer group standards will be discouraged as being detrimental to the individual’s growth and self-expression.
  4. Through the establishment of a dress code that reflects the decency, respect, and dignity of a Christian community. This code should set an example that identifies the student with Christian decency but not be an example of religious extremism.
  5. Through the establishment of a school environment that manifests God’s love in its implementation of policies, discipline, and problem solving procedures.

To Train the Body

  1. Through a well-developed physical education program allowing the student to participate in individual and team sports.
  2. Through a sports program where teams representing Valley Christian Schools will strive for excellence, achievement, and accomplishment, as in all their endeavors.
  3. Through curriculum emphasizing that the human body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and, for that reason, must not be debased by improper care, use, or impure habits.
